PBT’s History

PBT’s origins go back to 1972 when Peter Baker purchased a ’64 Bedford truck and started out in Wellington as a general carrier. After establishing a reputation for a commitment to excellent service, Peter first ventured up to Auckland and then built a nationwide branch network. By 2005 Couriers, Container Cartage and Logistics were added to PBT’s national transport services, all under the umbrella of the PBT Group. From 2017, under new shareholding, PBT has continued to focus on providing service excellence and reach through PBT’s Express Freight, Container Cartage, Logistics and A&O Landside services. Significant investment has also gone into ensuring PBT provides a range of industry leading customer portal and integration solutions. By divesting PBT Couriers in 2024 we removed complexity from our business and continue PBT’s 50+ year history of evolving and growing as NZ’s leading Express Freight Network.
